Today in Finance concept is better to make an investigation or a thesis?

I am studying Finance and just want to know what subject and sector finance is best for research or thesis today. Please tell me which sector and what subject? as a sector, do not ask me about my interest Personally I'm in the beginning of studies so I developed my interest when I know the amount is important. What is not on the list but the investigation would be the "Irish miracle" essentially tax cuts effect on the economy in general. Of the issues mentioned above, I would choose Financial Planning. I then research the effects of baby boom generation starting to convert the values in force in the active stock market and bond market over the next 20 years. It's something I'm sure keeping my eye.
